September and Hummingbirds

 September is the peak time for the backyard to turn into a buzzing cloud of Rubythroat hummingbirds  as they gather at the feeders preparing for their southbound migration. It is fascinating to watch these brilliant precision-flying tiny creatures glitter like jewels in the full sun as the congregate at the feeders.
It is Hummingbirds penchant to return to a favorite feeding area, year after year.
I will enjoy these captivating little jewels as long as they hang around, come first of October the tiny little birds will be heading south.



I have"four" feeders setup off the patio, and it has become a full-time job trying to keep them full. The feeders are filled twice sometimes three times a day. Each day two pitchers of sugar water are made up ready to use.

I am a country Girl born and raised in Texas…No other place like Texas!

Country life is slow and peaceful …No! No!… it was not always that way…. Enjoying the cool Country Summer breeze, gently stirring a graceful melody form the Westminster Chimes suspended from the eaves of the deck ……Along with American Flag Swaying to the rhythm of the wind.

Oh My, the Moon Plants are showing out again this year!! ~~~In my Secret Garden~~~~

Datura Inoxia Moon or Moon Plants.

Very easy to grow and produces blossoms from sunset until about 10 o'clock every morning. The flowers have a light spicy fragrance. The Flowers are very large and snow white in color.

Moon flowers are self-seeding, when their blooms die to produce new plants for the next growing cycle, they produce a pod that is full of seeds and will open when dried. This is when I pick the seeds and save for the coming spring to give to friends and family. The fragrance is so lovely, if only I could bottle it.!!
